I know this has been done many times, but a lot of the comments I've been reading were at least 5 years old. Needless to say, a lot has changed in the past 5 years with these boards. So here I am asking for your opinion as to which board would be better to purchase: • Soundcraft Signature 16 • Mackie PROFX16V2 • Behringer Xenyx X2442USB I think a lot to do with the recommendations have to do with how it's going to be used. While one board may blow the other away in how it's effects sound, for example, it's totally irrelevant in this case. This is to be used in a church setting, so it's not going to be getting moved from it's installed location, banged around, having beer spilled on it, etc. The built in SFX won't be getting used. It's simply going to be used to fine tune the sound and volume levels coming in from some mics and one USB connected computer channel to play professionally pre-recorded audio (via USB). Without going in to long details, I am absolutely certain the Behringer board is laid out the best for our use. And, honestly, I just like the way it looks more than the Mackie. The Mackie with the black and neon green looks more like a live concert gig board, and the neutral colors of the Behringer just look a bit more professional for it's intended use. Really, all personal opinions aside, I need to know if the Behringer is deserving of all the bashing it gets. I hear a lot about how it's a cheap consumer type of board, and to go with the Mackie or the Soundcraft for the better board. But I also hear that Behringer has come a long way in the past few years, and it's not as bad as it used to be, where Mackie may not be quite as good as they used to be. I don't know too much about Soundcraft, but I hear many good things. All things considered, given my specific application and usage, what would you say would be the best board overall? And, no matter which board you think is best, would the Behringer be that much farther behind, since it's my pick thus far? ![]() The Musician's Friend online store is home to the widest selection of the best musical instruments, equipment and technology, as well as exclusive content to help you get the sound you're looking for.
